Nigeria Aviation Security Personnel Prevents Stowaway At Lagos Airport

In what would have been a stowaway incident at the Murtala Muhammed Airport in Lagos was prevented by the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) Aviation Security (AVSEC) personnel at the early hour of today. Narrating what ensued, Henrietta Yakubu, the General Manager, Corporate Affairs of FAAN said: “At about 0850hrs of 27th December 2019, a young man of about 25yrs was sighted around the air field by FAAN Aviation Security (AVSEC) personnel manning the Charlie One (C1) link/holding area. On how the AVSEC personnel were able to stop the intrusion, Yakubua said: “In a swift response, the AVSEC personnel on static guard duties at the area rushed to stop his further movement towards a taxiing Air Peace aircraft numbered APK 7252 and with registration number (CS-TQU) and a struggle ensued. Air Peace has registered its insistence on safety in its operation, especially in-flight. This is as a passenger who was caught smoking on board Air Peace flight P4 7558 of December 11, 2019 from Sharjah (United Arab Emirates) – Lagos, was found guilty by an Ogba Magistrate Court and sentenced to two weeks imprisonment with the option of paying 200,000 Naira as a fine. FAAN Restricts Protocol Activities In Restricted Areas At Airports In Nigeria

The Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria, an agency of Federal Government of Nigeria saddled with the responsibility of managing over 20 airports in Nigeria has announced the restriction on protocol activities at restricted areas to passengers  at airport terminals  across the country. Nigeria CAA Threatens Turkish Airlines With Suspension Over Luggage Facilitation

The Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) has threatened to suspend Turkish airline’s operations from 16 December 2019 over mismanagement of luggage belonging Nigeria-bound passengers from Istanbul, the airline’s operational base in Turkey. The regulatory body through a letter to the airline’s Country Manager and signed by the acting Director-General, Captain Abdullahi Sidi, expressed its serious displeasure about the recent cases of not bringing passengers into Nigeria together with their checked-in baggage. Capt. Sidi said: “These incidences, which have been going on for over two weeks, has become so bad that the most recent flights arrived without more than 85% of passengers’ baggage on board. …Being installed In NCAT Zaria-Rector Fire fighting simulator being installed at NCAT Zaria The Federal Government of Nigeria through the Ministry of Aviation has taken delivery of newly-acquired ultra-modern and multi-functional aircraft fire fighting simulator. The equipment is currently going through installation at the Nigerian College of Aviation Technology in Zaria and will be commissioned for use soon. The Rector of the Nigerian College of Aviation Technology, made the disclosure at an interactive session with the League of Airport and Aviation Correspondents (LAAC) in Lagos. Capt. Mohammed said: “The college is in the process of installing a fully automated aircraft fire fighting simulator to train firemen. As we speak, the installation is in progress. Sen. Hadi Sirika, Nigeria's Minister of Aviation cautions ill-informed comments on civil aviation Sen. Hadi Sirika, Nigeria’s Minister of Aviation has cautioned “non-subject matter experts’“   ill-informed comments relating to civil aviation and any given profession. The tone of his comment portrays his displeasure on recent banters on subject matters concerning civil aviation and other professions in the country. He did not only caution non-subject matter experts but also advised that such commentators should seek knowledge or refrain from derogatory and ill-informed comments on fields they are not familiar with. “My opinion is that, non-subject matter experts should either seek for knowledge or keep quiet. Same may apply to other professions, I suppose.” He said this while explaining complexities of civil aviation on his twitter handle @hadisirika. “The economic dynamics and legal complexities of civil aviation is as complex as its science, art and technology.”
