FAAN Restricts Protocol Activities In Restricted Areas At Airports In Nigeria


The Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria, an agency of Federal Government of Nigeria saddled with the responsibility of managing over 20 airports in Nigeria has announced the restriction on protocol activities at restricted areas to passengers  at airport terminals  across the country. FAAN said, henceforth, the bodies allowed to perform protocol activities at the restricted areas are its (FAAN) protocol services and Ministry of Foreign Affairs Officers only.

“In line with provisions of the Federal Government's directive on the Ease of Doing Business, the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria has directed that apart from FAAN protocol services and the designated Ministry of Foreign Affairs Officers, no individual or agency is allowed to escort Passengers or Conduct any type of protocol  activity after Immigration process for Departing Passengers, and before immigration process for arriving Passengers at the Airports” said Mrs. Henrietta Yakubu, the General Manager Corporate Affairs to FAAN in statement.

“Consequently, in the interest of our common Safety and Comfort, all Passengers, agencies, and other stakeholders are requested to kindly align their airport activities accordingly.”

In addition, FAAN also cautioned the attitude of passengers coming to the airport with large numbers of people in the name of seeing off. Yakubu said: “In a similar vein, passengers are also advised to desist from coming to the airports with groups of friends and relatives. This is aimed at enhancing the Safety, Comfort, and efficient facilitation of human and vehicular traffic at the airports.”
