In what would have been a stowaway incident at the Murtala Muhammed Airport in Lagos was prevented by the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) Aviation Security (AVSEC) personnel at the early hour of today. Narrating what ensued, Henrietta Yakubu, the General Manager, Corporate Affairs of FAAN said: “At about 0850hrs of 27th December 2019, a young man of about 25yrs was sighted around the air field by FAAN Aviation Security (AVSEC) personnel manning the Charlie One (C1) link/holding area. Air Peace has registered its insistence on safety in its operation, especially in-flight. This is as a passenger who was caught smoking on board Air Peace flight P4 7558 of December 11, 2019 from Sharjah (United Arab Emirates) – Lagos, was found guilty by an Ogba Magistrate Court and sentenced to two weeks imprisonment with the option of paying 200,000 Naira as a fine. The Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria, an agency of Federal Government of Nigeria saddled with the responsibility of managing over 20 airports in Nigeria has announced the restriction on protocol activities at restricted areas to passengers  at airport terminals  across the country. The Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) has threatened to suspend Turkish airline’s operations from 16 December 2019 over mismanagement of luggage belonging Nigeria-bound passengers from Istanbul, the airline’s operational base in Turkey. The regulatory body through a letter to the airline’s Country Manager and signed by the acting Director-General, Captain Abdullahi Sidi, expressed its serious displeasure about the recent cases of not bringing passengers into Nigeria together with their checked-in baggage.
