IATA Acknowledges Boost On MP14 In Tackling Issues Around Unruly Behaviors On Board Aircraft

  The International Air Transport Association (IATA) says it looks forward to the entry into force of the all-important treaty ‘Montreal Protocol 2014 (MP14)’ on 1 January 2020. IATA said in a statement after ratification by Nigeria that, “MP14 enhances the capacity of states to curb the escalation in the severity and frequency of unruly behavior on board aircraft.” Being the Twenty-second member of the International Civil Aviation Organisation (ICAO) Council out of the 36 needed to ratify the treaty and deposited in the United Nation’s agency this week, Nigeria has done the historic feat to boost the implementation of the ‘The Montreal Protocol 2014.’ Also acknowledged by IATA as it said:   “This follows the 26 November 2019 ratification of MP14 by Nigeria, the 22nd state to do so.”   “MP14, properly named the Protocol to Amend the Convention on Offences and Certain Other Acts Committed on Board Aircraft, is a global treaty that strengthens the powers of states to prose

Nigeria CAA Advises Airlines On Flight Operations During Inclement Weather

In preparation for the expectant hazy weather towards the end of the year, aviation regulator in the Nigeria has advised airlines and pilots to take precautions before embarking on any operation during the period. The Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) has made public the issuance of ‘Advisory Circular to intimate pilots, operators and other stakeholders about dust haze (harmattan) and safety approach to adopt.’ “This Advisory Circular AC: NCAA-AEROMET-28 dated 12th November, 2019 is intended to alert Pilots to the hazards associated with dust haze which is a dry and dusty wind that blows south from the Sahara across Nigeria. This situation is expected to persist till March, 2020,”said Sam Adurogboye, the spokesperson of the agency. “As issued by the Nigerian Meteorological Agency in its Seasonal Rainfall Prediction Bulletin-2019, the cessation of the rainy season is predicted from mid-October (in the Northern part) to early December, 2019 (in the Southern part)

It was another historic moment in the history of Nigeria aviation when, the Honourable Minister of Aviation, Sen. Hadi Sirika on behalf of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, deposited ratification on ‘Protocol to Amend the Convention on Offences and Certain Other Acts Committed on Board Aircraft, done at Montreal on 4 April 2014’ also known as “The Montreal Protocol 2014”, with the International Civil Aviation Organisation, ICAO on the 26 November 2019 at the United Nation agency’s headquarters in Montreal, Canada. National Carrier: Ghana Orders Three 787-9 At $877.5 million… Six Dash 8-400

In her quest to establish a National Carrier Republic of Ghana and Boeing has signed a Memorandum of Understanding on three airplanes with a list price value of $877.5 million. SAA Resumes Flights To Nigeria, 5 Others African Nations

South African Airways is reinstating flight operations to Nigeria, Ghana, Zambia, Mozambique,   Namibia and Zimbabwe capitals from tomorrow after the shut down of its services due to industrial dispute with its workers. Still in the mood of celebration, Dana Air announced over the weekend that it has airlifted 5.4 million passengers in the last 11 years of its operations. The airline promises to double the figure with route expansion plan owing to increase in fleet size. Kingsley Ezenwa, the carrier’s Media and Communications Manager said in a statement that the airline, ‘hopes to double the figure by sustaining its operational efficiency, increasing its fleet size, maintaining its record on-time performance, and raising the bar of its excellent service delivery in the coming years.’ “Having completed a commercial analysis of our loads in the last 11 years and confirmed it to stand at 5.4 million, we have set the ball rolling for the next 9 years. Nigeria Aviation Accident Investigation Agency Releases Serious Incident Reports Involving Three Air Peace Aircraft

The Accident Investigation Bureau (AIB), a Nigerian agency saddled with the responsibility of investigating air accidents and incidents has made public preliminary reports on serious incidents involving three aircraft owned and operated by Air Peace.  “The preliminary reports are not the final reports as they contain details of the initial facts, discussions and findings surrounding the occurrences; which include information gathered from witness statements, flight recorders, Health and Usage Monitoring System (HUMS) Data, Flight Data Monitoring (FDM) data, and preliminary inspection of the accident sites and the wreckages,” said Tunji Oketunmbi, the bureau’s spokesperson. “Therefore, the investigations on these serious incidents are still ongoing and final reports on these occurrences will be released at the conclusion of these investigations.” The reports released by AIB included the serious incident involving Air Peace Limited B737-300 aircraft with nationality and regi
