Emirates Suspends All Flights To Nigeria...Promises Resumption When GCAA And Nigeria CAA Resolve Lingering issue

Emirates Airlines has suspended all its flights into the Murtala muhammed International Airport, Lagos and the Nnamdi Azikiwe international Airport, Abuja; both in Nigeria.

The Gulf carrier stated that condition that will warrant resumption of flights will be resolution entered into by the United Arab Emirate’s aviation regulatory body, General Civil Aviation Authority(GCAA) and its Nigerian counterpart, the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority(NCAA) base on the ongoing disagreement in view of the one flight per week condition to Emirates as a result of the same condition given to Air Peace of Nigeria by Sharjah Airport which Nigerian government felt it is unfair.

“With the recently imposed directive limiting Emirates to operate one flight per week to Nigeria via Abuja, Emirates will be completely suspending its flights between Nigeria and Dubai, until the Civil Aviation Authorities from both countries find a solution to the current ongoing issue,”said Emirates Spokesperson via a statement made available over the weekend.

“We regret the inconvenience caused,  and customers can contact their travel agent or booking office to make alternative arrangements. Emirates is committed to its operations in Nigeria, and we stand  ready to reinstate services once restrictions are lifted by the Nigerian authorities, ensuring travellers have more choice and  access to trade and tourism opportunities in Dubai, and beyond to our network of over 120 destinations.”
